Five Acts of Worship

Renae Pogue

Bible Journaling Series

This study is going to be a brief examination of the God-authorized 5 acts of worship in a Bible journaling format. I recommend keeping a small paper in the front of your Bible to reference which study it is and where it starts. All verses are King James Version. I am using one verse for each act, but I will list a few more for each that you can note as well.

To begin this study, in the front of your Bible or on a paper, write “5 Acts of Worship – Ephesians 5:19”.

In your Bibles, turn to Ephesians 5:19. Next to this verse, write “sing”.

“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”

Underline the phrase “singing and making melody in your heart”.

*note Colossians 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 14:15*

At the end of the verse, write “Ephesians 6:18”.

Turn to Ephesians 6:18. Next to this verse, write “pray”.

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”

Underline the phrase “praying always with all prayer and supplication”.

*note Colossians 4:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, James 5:16 and 1 John 5:14*

At the end of the verse, write “Acts 20:7”.

Turn to Acts 20:7. Next to this verse, write “preach”.

“And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.”

Underline the phrases “upon the first day of the week” and “Paul preached unto them”.

*note Mark 16:15, 1 Corinthians 14:34 and 2 Timothy 4:2*

At the end of the verse, write “1 Corinthians 11:23-29”.

Turn to 1 Corinthians 11:23-28. Next to verse 23, write “Lord’s Supper/Communion”.

“(23) For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: (24) And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. (25) After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

(26) For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. (27) Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. (28) But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.”

Underline the phrases (vs 24) “given thanks”, “take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me”, (vs 25) “this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me”, (vs 27) “unworthily”, “guilty of the body and blood of the Lord”, (vs 28) “examine himself”.

*note Isaiah 53:1-12*

At the end of verse 28, write “1 Corinthians 16: 1-2”.

Turn to 1 Corinthians 16: 1-2. Next to verse 1, write “give”.

“(1) Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. (2) Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.”

Underline the phrases (vs 1) “collection for the saints”, “even so do ye”, (vs 2) “the first day of the week”, “every one”, “lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him”.

*note 2 Corinthians 9:6-7*

However you prefer, at the end of verse 2, note that this is the end of this study.

I pray this is helpful in your studies!
