1 Corinthians 10:13 states: "There hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common
to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
Temptation is not sinful, but when we allow ourselves to be tempted and follow up on
that temptation is where sin comes in. It can take you down a dark road. Some are
tempted by alcohol, drugs, pornography, lustful desire of the flesh. Some think I will
hide this from loved ones. God knows. Your sin will find you out. There is a way out. 1
John 5:14 says, "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing
according to his will, he heareth us." Talk to God, talk to him daily. Have faith that he will
do the things he states. Not miraculously but He is listening. “Confess therefore your
sins one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication
of a righteous man availeth much in its working" (James 5:16).
“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been approved, he shall
receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to them that love him. Let no man say
when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he
himself tempteth no man: but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own
lust, and enticed. Then the lust, when it hath conceived, beareth sin: and the sin, when
it is fullgrown, bringeth forth death. Be not deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good
gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with
whom can be no variation, neither shadow that is cast by turning" (James 1:12-17).
Just know, no one can be tempted by God. Why would a loving God want to try and
take you down a lonely road. God wants the best for us. I heard a saying: "why walk down
a road alone when you have company." Talk to God, talk to your spouse, loved ones,
other Christians. Communication is very important. If you are walking down a lonely
road, remember God is always with you and is ready and willing to listen.
We all walk though are own struggles in life. The devil is ready and willing to throw
arrows at you daily. We may have certain struggles we are dealing with. Bring them to
God. Lay it out there. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is also there at
your tomorrow. God wants you to succeed. God wants us to be happy. He loves you
and there is always a way out of bad situations.
I don’t really like change. Do we ever like change? No, but when sin enters in we need to be like Joseph and RUN; don’t linger.
Temptation is not the sin, us allowing the temptation to take over invites sin.
